Nestled in an historic 1870's agricultural grange, next to a lovely mill pond, Barksfield celebrates the art of green living in bucolic Tiverton, RI.
In her "day job," shop owner Michele Jalbert works in Washington, DC with companies introducing new biobased alternatives that can replace many toxic chemical products used today. She is a passionate advocate for national policies that will encourage better and safer products to come to market quickly.
Given this larger work, Barksfield was originally opened to offer a local source for organic soap and green cleaners. It soon expanded to include all-natural chalk and clay paint, rescued furniture, antiques and a wide array of carefully selected eco-friendly artists and artisans.
Today, Barksfield is delighted to offer healthy, chemical-free home, personal and pet care products. Art, home décor and gifts are carefully curated from around the country, selected for the artist's commitment to sustainable business practices, use of natural and reclaimed materials or use of biobased dyes and other nontoxic materials. Barksfield is proud to support creative people who choose to "work green" and serve customers who choose to "live green".
